A good friend and reader took a moment to email Kevin Roderick at the LA Observer. Here's what she got back:

We haven't seen the change yet, but we appreciate Mr. Roderick being willing to address this issue.
Again, we understand that there was likely no malice here. But the question remains, why didn't they just do a little research, ask me and get permission in the first place?
